Working

I have a part time job that serves to keep the wolves at bay when our home businesses are not doing well. My job is to answer phones for a cell phone company and I am privileged in the fact that I can choose my own hours and work from my home. And it is honestly not a hard job. But seriously, I would rather be doing 100's of other things besides answering back to back phone calls for a company I don’t own and have no interest in.

Carving wood, selling carvings, writing, spending time with my hu… Continue

Gave my all

I have been giving my all these past few days to finish this 50000 words for the NaNoWriMo novel before the deadline. I submitted my 50165 words tonight with 6 minutes to spare. This story needs refining but I feel like I have accomplished something important.
The main thing is that I learned that if I do a little every day I can accomplish a lot... and I can work quickly when under pressure.

So I guess this was a gift to myself.

Country Santa

Today my husband and I gave toys for Country Santa, a local Christmas Charity. This year the toys we had are not new but are in good condition and will clean up well. I hope the children enjoy them.

I am at 30K on my NaNo Novel. Have been writing most of the day trying to bring things together and make a story of it all. Coming down to the wire.

Cornbread waffles

Since my "cooked" post, I had a few people ask me about cornbread waffles.
I cook cornbread in a Belgian waffle iron because I don't own a oven and it is fast and nearly fool proof.

My gift today is the recipe for cornbread waffles

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cups cornmeal
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups milk
1 large egg
1 can creamed corn
1 small can chopped green chili peppers

Heat up your waffle iron while you mix all of the ingredients together. (Like I needed to t… Continue

Giving and receiving

Today was an exceptional so far.
My give today is a chest protector pants, gloves, jersey and protective underwear (tailbone protector) to friend whose son races BMX bikes. I'm putting them in a box to mail to her.
now for the receiving.
Our home business involves going to auctions and buying pallet loads of things to sell.
Today there was a group of 4 pallet loads of used luggage that no one would bid on. (You have to take it all) So the auctioneer offered it for $1. My husband bought it for $1… Continue

I am a little late today in getting my blog posted. It's because I did go out and brave the sales. But I'm not really sure why because I wasn't able to get anything I'd hoped to. Luckily my husband and I only attempted to go to two stores so it wa...

So, kind of a slow week. It feels a little like cheating, but my gifts for Wed and Thurs were comments and acknowledgment of things that my husband and coworkers do/have done. My husband is.... not overly motivated when it comes to helping with ho...
