Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
We live in a materialistic world, and I think life should be about more than what we have. It should be about what we give to others. Also, as a christian, I think Jesus would want us to serve others as he did.
What I'd most like to receive:
I would most like to receive personal joy knowing that I gave to someone in need.

Behind Already: Rd. 4 Days 2,3,4

Day 2: Since today was Sunday, I helped out my Sunday School kids with crafts they made for family members. The kids had a blast and made cute crafts to give to all their family members just in time for Valentine's Day.

Day 3: Although we should give God thanks every day, sometimes we forget to show our gratitude. So today my give was a prayer of thanks to God for the people, experiences, and opportunities he has blessed me with.

Day 4: My give was a listening ear in a phone call with a friend… Continue

Rd. 4 Day 1: Ferrante & Teicher: "The Apartment"

I was so excited about my give for today that I just couldn't wait to blog about it. I have been taking piano lessons for about 9 years now, and my piano teacher is just about the sweetest woman I have ever met. I think it's safe to say that if I hadn't had such a nice teacher, I probably wouldn't have stuck with lessons like I did. Anyway, I'm currently working on playing the theme from "The Apartment" by Ferrante and Teicher. It is a beautiful song, and they were two remarkable pianists (only… Continue

Rd. 3 Day 29: A book for the library

My give today was actually a continuation of last month's cause of the month. When I dropped off my bookmarks at the library, I asked the woman working at the desk if they had any books they would like donated. She wasn't quite sure how to answer, because they are so used to having books donated to them that people choose to give based on personal interests or what they already have. She did give me a few suggestions, so today I went to Barnes and Noble and picked up The Invisible Man by H.G. We… Continue

Days 27 and 28

Day 27: For the third or fourth week now (we have gym once a week), it has been volleyball in gym class. Either your good at it or you try but your not. It's very frustrating for a group of people who have little volleyball skills to suddenly be thrown into a game. So my give for today was giving words of encouragement to my teammates whenever they hit the ball or made a good effort.

Day 28: My give for today was giving a listening ear to one of my friends who was having a rough day.

Rd. 3 Days 24, 25, and 26: Bookmarks and Souper Bowl

I haven't been very good about blogging lately, but sometimes life just gets in the way. I've still been giving, and that's what matters most.

Day 24: No big gives today. Held the door open for somebody on crutches (although I certainly hope anyone would do that) and spent some time with family.

Day 25: Took my bookmarks to the library for the cause of the month and asked the clerk if they had any books they would like donated. She was pleasantly surprised, because they are so used to having p… Continue

Thanks so much Sarah for your kind comment on my poetry. Some come so easy and others come hard. The easy ones are heavensent. The hard ones are probably from heaven, too but I just have to work harder for them. Blessings, Effie

Sarah,
Just wanted to let you know that while I was resting and not blogging I did go to the Xerox site you told me about. Since I mailed 10 letters, I sent 10 cards. Thanks for that information.

Congrats on Day 1! I've recently read quite a bit about KIVA, so I'm looking forward to that being one of my "giftings" in the next 27 days (I'm 2 days in).
