Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I believe that the gifts and talents I possess were meant to be shared.
What I'd most like to receive:
An inner knowing that I made a difference in another person's life even if they never know my name.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I'm a volunteer for a Hospice organization and do workshops on holistic stress reduction for caregivers. After my workshop today, the organizer told me that something I said prompted her to remember a book someone told her about. That book happened to be 29 Gifts. I hadn't heard of it until today.
About me:
I'm an Intuitive Life Coach and Energy Practitioner. I help others through their personal challenges and they in turn teach me much about myself and life in general.
Do you agree to read and follow the 29Gifts Code of Conduct once you join our site?

Blessings in Foreclosure?

Hi All
Today is my 16th day.
It's been a whirlwind of emotions recently as we learned a few weeks ago that out request for a Loan Modification was NOT approved. We have until the end of this month to vacate our home. During this ordeal, I have experienced emotions I didn't think were possible. I am leaning to find the blessings in all of this and some days seem easier than others. Actually, some hours seems easier than others. I am being prompted to say goodbye to the life I once knew. A… Continue

Hello Moon! There are a bunch of websites that offer self-publishing. If you do a google search of 'print on demand' or 'self-publishing', you will see them. I did my research and chose to go with www.Lulu.com . Their website and book creation wizards are easy to use and the book quality is fabulous. The downside to Lulu is that the only form of support they offer is online email submissions of your issue, then it takes months for them to get back to you. I have found that frustrating! I think they have grown faster than they can keep up.

With Lulu, you just upload you files (they accept many formats), create a book cover, set your price and publish. You own the copyright to your work. It is all pretty straight-forward.

Now, about making profits. Some times you can make a profit on each book and some times you can't. It depends on where you are selling it and if you can set your price right. For instance, my book is about the healing power of art and it is printed in full color because I included over 30 of my paintings in the book. Printing a color book is much more expensive to make so I have a hard time pricing it well. Whichever website you use to publish your book, they will make a profit on every book. If you want to sell it at local, independent bookstores on consignment, they typically take around 40% of the sale price. That makes it very difficult to make a profit because if you raise the price to cover that 40% , then you may be priced too high and no one will buy it. If you are writing a standard book with no color, it might be easier to make profits.

Feel free to ask other questions. I'm happy to share my experiences with this.

Thanks for the reminder. I love nature, but since we moved to a town last month I have not taken the time to find a place to commune, I will make that a priority now. I love the poem and the picture.
