Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I accidentally gave to my neighbor yesterday and I felt good about myself. I'd like to continue reaching out and connecting with more people. I also feel like I'm naturally a giving person, and I'd like to test whether or not that's true.
What I'd most like to receive:
In fantasy land, I would like to receive enough money that I won't have to worry about how to pay my bills. In real life, I just want to make the world a happier, more giving place.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
Tavis Smiley Show
About me:
I'm a tap dancer and dance teacher and promotional model and assistant director of a youth dance company. I love knitting, baking, wine, and old movie musicals.

REdo: Day 2 & 3

Posted on October 29, 2009 at 1:30pm 2 Comments

Tuesday, Day 2 was kind of lame. I bought my own drink at the bar without expecting my boyfriend to pay for it. Not the best gift, but it's a positive, less-selfish attempt for me.

Day 3, on the other hand was awesome. I went out of my way to tip the Starbucks barista. I made a mental note to do it while in line, but then forgot about it until I got back to my car. I went back in and put a dollar in the their tip box. A dollar isn't much, but I usually pay with a credit card, and… Continue

Re-do: Day 1

Posted on October 26, 2009 at 1:28pm 2 Comments

I kind of forgot to keep giving after the 1st week, so I thought I would start over.

Today, I cleaned out my inbox on facebook. Not only does it simplify my life (a very good give to myself), but I finally wrote back to my aunt who sent me a note back in (I'm embarrassed to say) August.

I'm also, once again, going to try to give the very best to my students tonight. I feel that this is something I should be doing every day, but I often get distracted and bogged down with… Continue

Days 3, 4, & 5

Day 3 - I listened to one of my friends who is having a chronic back problem. I gave her my full, undivided attention.

Day 4 - I gave my students my patience. I normally dread one of my classes on Thursday mornings. I approached the class with a positive attitude. I'm not sure if they were any better behaved for it, but I certainly felt better after class was over. Less stressed and less emotionally drained.

Day 5 (today) - I told a fellow dancer that he is wonderful. The… Continue

Day 2

Posted on October 13, 2009 at 8:37pm 4 Comments

This was much rougher than day 1. I woke up feeling sluggish and uninspired. I posted on facebook and twitter that I was joining the project, hoping that would get me excited to give. I then spent most of my day isolated in my office. I did manage to stay a couple minutes late at work to help a coworker with a simple task, and then I got home, I had this message waiting for me...

"I saw this post and joined as well so count me in as one of those you gave a gift to because you are helping… Continue
