Tuesday morning and back to work. To a job I dislike, however I am in a better spiritual place so today may be better than the ones I've previously ruined with a negative bad attitude. I am making today a day that I give with Happiness. I realize happiness is a pure state of mind. I read my morning meditation and prayed for my kids. I have a 13 year old and an 18 year old (boys). My 13 year old shot himself just above the eye with an air-soft gun. He could have easily lost his eye. I pray to…See More

- Why I'm choosing to give:
- I have been very self absorbed lately. I am an alcoholic who at one time had 8 years of sobriety, way back from 1989 - 1997. I have been unable to remain sober since. I hate my job and have expected it to change for several months only to have each day a disappointment. I commute to Chicago from a suburb and see all the arrogance and homelessness and both extremes discust me. I have begun making an extra sandwich (a few days a week) for a man who sits on one of the corners with his little dog every day and it helps me some. I am a very spiritual person, whoever have been in some sort of spiritual warfare for the past 2 years that I can't shake. I need me to change!
- What I'd most like to receive:
- Peace, sobriety, joy, contentment, a stronger connection to God.
- How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
- My ex-sponsor gave me the book. I'm on Day 8
- About me:
- I'm 48 and feel like I'm going through one of those crazy midlife/menopausal type mental state where you hear about women taking off or doing crazy things a 16 year old would only think about. I've struggled with alcoholism all my life. I have 2 boys 18 and 13. My 13 year old and I have always been very, very close and lately he treats me like I'm some big burden in his life and it's breaking my heart. I've been divorced since 2003 (which took 3 years to get out of, 15 minutes to get into). I was married for 13 years. I already read the code of conduct and will comply.
