Bras for the third world

I heard on the radio today that bras are very much needed in the developing world. So, if you have bras in your drawer that you don't wear take them along to your local Oxfam shop. They will make sure that they are recycled in Africa and other developing countries. Spread the word to your female friends.

day 29 gone!

Well day 29 has been and gone and what a busy week it has been since I last posted.

I haven't had to plan how to give I recieved the gift of a caring task. Last Tuesday dad broke his hip and while he was in hospital I moved in with mum to look after her. Mum has Alzheimer's and is immobile. How dad has coped with caring for her in recent months I don't know. It must be the power of love.Dad has resisted any help with care but has now accepted a package of care which seems to suit them both. I'm… Continue

Catch up

Oh dear! It is now day 22 and I haven't written anything for 12 days. I've been focusing on forgiveness - a big gift to myself as well as others. It started on day 11 with a retreat at my local convent, a quite day with meditation and discussion about spiritual matters. Since then I've made regular time for prayer and contemplation, not something I normally do. I've found a Tibetan Buddhist meditation very useful. This meditation asks us to contemplate that every human being was once our mother… Continue

days 9 and 10

day 9: still working on painting the bedroom. Didn't give much apart from opening the door for some people in a shop. I was amazed at how such a small act can be really appreciated. I was rewarded with some great smiles. Looked out some art books for a young friend who is going to Florence and alerted him to the not to be missed art experiences.

day 10: Phoned a relative who is having chemo -sometimes she doesn't feel up to conversation so I have to take my cue from her, today was one of those… Continue

Day 8

Painted the back bedroom to convert it into an office. This is really a give for myself but also helps my husband as he is normally the DIYer but as he is 'nearly an octagenarian' I think he deserves a break. Brian gave me excellent tips on preparing surfaces, brush strokes, cleaning etc. So I learned a lot and I'm developing my skill

Consoled a friend over the death of our last priest and we shared memories. Made her some scones.

An enjoyable day

Hi Sally, after my long unnecessary explanation I failed to tell you you are able to down load a free 29day calender from home page of 29day giving challenge. You do need to be able to download PDF files. For this you need to have acrobat reader. try downloading, if you do not have acrobat reader a message will come up on your screen saying file too large. You can download acrobat reader free from internet.
