I was at my local hangout, Rooster & Moon... I walked outside, and picked up a rock. I went back inside, got a sharpie marker and drew a face on it. I knew I was going to give it away, but I didn't know to whom. One of the Barista's saw this serious look on my face, commented. Today I jumped in and started my challenge by mailing six (handwritten!!) notes to some friends and family members. In each of them I tried to note something special about the person and tell them how important they are to me. Considering that three of the notes were to grandmothers and three were to friends I have not spoken with in a while, I'm sure they will be well-received! (I know I would enjoy getting them, anyway!).

I just love love love Sheryl. I’ve been going to her for, hmmm…at least 5 years. She’s the only one I will trust with my eyebrows! But it is not just her waxing skills that I appreciate. Even more importantly is the kind, generous, compassionate person that she is. I never feel rushed. She always takes as long as she needs, even if she has to step out and let her next client know it will be another couple minutes. When I was out of work, she would never take a tip. Clear blue sky, bright sunshine, trees in bloom…spring is around the corner! So today we got outside and spent most of the day playing and working in the yard. Mowed the lawn, raked leaves and camellias that littered the ground, pulled weeds, cleaned up garden beds. Fun and productive (and exercise too!). When we were done, we made a big batch of homemade lemonade from a bunch of lemons we were given. Fun and a yummy refreshment after our hard work!

I’m building an “Attitude Adjustment” playlist…songs that are positive and uplifting and that make me feel happy and grateful when I hear them. I discovered a new one today and it made me think of my friend who is struggling with her son’s diagnosis. So I posted it on her facebook with the comment “This is for you! xoxo”. Day 4 had me bringing donuts to the shop that works on my car. The reaction I recieved was priceless. The guys looked at me with a combination of surprise, happiness, confusion, and even maybe a little nervous. I am guessing that they do not recieve deliveries like this very often. This gift left me giggling and in such a good mood for the entire morning. I was absolutely the reciepent of some fantastic energy from giving this gift :) I think this is the most fun I have had in quite awhile.…

I emailed Jackie 2 pictures from yesterday.

One was the bride and groom to be.

They were standing in front of a bare tree.

There is a gazebo like structure where they will exchange their vows.

I realized today that although BIG gifts are fun to give, the simple ones are just as important. I learned this from my son who is also doing this challenge with me! He told me that his gift for the 3rd day today ocurred when he walked by his Assistant Principal at school. He said that he smiled and said "hi" to him first when they passed by each other. I work for a nonprofit organization that supports adults with disabilities.  Some of our furnishing and equipment are donated by companies that are upgrading and want to contribute to our cause.  Our clinical director has been working on a dinosaur of a desk top monitor for many years and struggles to see her work clearly on its screen. She has great insite as a behavioralist and works extremely hard everyday giving of herself and going home most days extremely drained, to do it all over…

For my Day 7 gift I sent a baby shower gift to my god daughter. She is interstate so I am unable to make it to her party.

I am usually late sending presents for occasions, but for a change I was organised and sent her a gift and a card which I spent time to write her a special message about motherhood.Iam sure she will be grateful when it arrives and know I am thinking of her.

My parents are in their mid-80s, but in good health and living an active life.  They begin each day by going to Mass every morning at 6:30, unless the weather is too bad.  Since I retired, I have been joining them.  Most days we just talk for a few minutes before going our separate ways, but it reassures me and them that we are each OK.  Today's Mass intention was in memory of my mother's parents.  My grandmother passed away 51 years ago yesterday.  This morning we had violent storms and a…
