Day 5

Today I did some more errands for my grandma, sent a friend info for a casting audition and I spent time with my grandparents. It was great to catch up with them as I hadn't seen them in a few weeks. I also posted that I am doing the 29 day giving challenge on my FB page and was thanked by a new friend. :)

Day 11 - Buttons and Article

Day 11

Today I give in support.

My sister saw that I had some Obama buttons from when I was working on the campaign. She asked if she could have them and I gifted them to her.

Also, I had a friend tell me that she was starting a mastermind group with some friends of hers and I sent her an article I found about forming a successful mastermind group.

I received some nice gifts today. I was…

Pointed out a Better Price on Organic Produce to Shopper

I go grocery shopping, in small amounts, several times a week. While in the produce area, I was speaking with another shopper who was buying blueberries. I pointed out the great deal they were having on organic berries - same size but less than half the price of regular. She thanked me and switched her produce. By the way, thank you for all the red ribbons I have received. Can anyone tell me how I use them? Thanks!

Starting Over - Day 1

Dear Cheerful Givers :)

Well here I go again. The problem seems to be that after starting this journey more than a year ago - I have gotten SO into giving, that I don't really keep track anymore. It has become part of me to the point that I don't even think about it anymore which is GREAT and the whole point of this site I guess - but not very helpful for blog posts.

OK, so does calling my Mom count? Or taking my…

Day 30 Gift to myself

I successfully finished the 29 day challenge, but am going to keep going! I hope to "gift" every single day!

Today, the gift was to myself. The boys have been pretty sick the last week and haven't been able to go to their little school so I can have a break. They were finally healthy today and went to school. I took an hour and got myself a pedicure. I only get 1 or 2 a year so this was a special treat. It would have been better if the nail tech hadn't been hungover and excusing… Continue

Feeding Starving Children

Did you know that 18,000 children die EVERY DAY on this planet from starvation? This is unacceptable to most people if they really think about it.

Our organization, headed by Vic Hutchison, is on a mission to end this situation. People from many different countries are participating and I'd like to invite you to watch a video by Vic explaing more about our work. The video can be seen at: worldhungerdone.com

Please take the time to at least watch. Thank you for…

day 4: reaching out... day 5: staying connected....

day 4: Well, I was long overdue to talk to my mother, so my gift for day 4 was to call her and chat a bit. She & I are not close, and it is often a struggle to call her. I know she appreciates hearing from me, and I feel glad when I do call her. This call was no exception.

day 5: Today really began around midnight. My 17 year old son was on an overnight leadership training with his junior class about 85 miles (not…

A Beautiful day in the Neighborhood

The song came to mind when I was writing about today. I walked with my neighbor and we saw beautiful azaleas, iris, lush green grass and bushes and birds of many kinds. I needed a walk and talk today and it was well spent therapy for both of us. I took into school the children we carpool with today. I sent in the meal for the family in my son's class who just had the new baby. I made a nice dinner for my family and treated the boys to ice cream. All in all, a great day in the neighborhood......

Day 5 - Plan USA

A week ago, I couldn't sleep, so I came to the living room and turned on the TV to a Plan USA commercial. It touched me and I took it as a sign. I went online and read more about their program, but my heart was set to give before I reached www.planusa.org

I chose to sponsor the kid who has waited the longest. Her name is Dado and she's from Benin (Africa). She's a beautiful 8 year old and she has to carry gallons of water from more than half a mile… Continue

Starting Over

So yesterday (Day 10) unfolded in an unexpected way and even though I gave out compliments and words of encouragement, I didn't recognize an actual gift. I thought about counting my putting the new toilet paper on the holder in the restroom at the restaurant, but somehow it seems cleaner to begin again.

Day 4

Today I had girlfriends over for semi-regular visit. I don't drink coffee but they do and I usually make them instant. Today I went to the local coffee shop and bought them caffe lattes and myself a chai. They were both surprised and grateful when they arrived.

Day 26 Friday

Today I gave 2 gifts. A %) donation to Sheryl for her swim across America fundraiser and also I made lunch and brought it over to Tania. I held the baby for the hour so she could enjoy her lunch and relax. I haven't ehld a baby in a long time and I was impressed that I was able to get the baby to sleep and fastened into her carseat before they had to leave. She was very grateful and I can remeber how hard those baby times are and just wanting to be able to finish a meal so was happy to do it

Dealing with Yourself

"To deal with things, knowledge of things is needed. To deal with people, you need insight, sympathy. To deal with yourself, you need nothing. Be what you are--conscious being--and don't stray away from yourself."--Living Yoga

Day 25 Thursday

Today I gave a gift to my frined Amanda who was having a bad day. I brought over a cup of soy chai which she loves and we sipped tea and took a walk around the block. We had a few good laughs along the way about my cat story and her haircut story. It was a beautiful way to spend the evening.
