Had breakfast with 2 old and dear friends and took them each a shopping bag that I made.Had a 3 hour breakfast catching up - what fun.
Caught up with my son who has arrived in Canada and was about to go skiing - he was not expecting it to be so cold so will have to buy some warmer clothes!!! - he is a shorts and slops guy.
Reading all your blogs continues to inspire me as I near the ned of this giving cycle. Abit disappointed in my friend who was the receiver of 29…

Round 2, Day 3: Garden time, games with my daughter and friendly words
Today's biggest gift was of my time - my daughter has been wanting to get her peppermint plant in the ground outside, and to hang up and fill our bird feeders, so I made time today for us to do that. (Added bonus - our yard looks nicer, because I pulled some garden weeds while I was at it!) We also played a couple of Wii bowling games together, which she really likes.
My other gift was to go through some of the 29Gifts blogs from today and leave comments, especially if the posts…

So things have been a bit stressful around our home the last week or so. On Friday I got a nice card and wrote a letter to my husband. The last couple weeks he has been working out all of the details for moving his mom from Idaho to Cali. He isn't close to his mom ... his Dad raised him and his brother when his parents divorced, he was 9 years old. His Dad found out she wasn't caring for them properly and moved them in with him. I don't want to sound negative, but .... all through the years…

Today, I came face to face with the "Beast Within Me". My grandkids were testing every rule and pushing all my buttons. I did not feel well and my patience was on a very short fuse. To make things worse, for some reason my husband who usually has the patience of Jobe, was also short tempered this morning. The whole atmosphere was ripe for a blow out. Before this happened, I knew I needed to tame that Beast that…

Zander's Cookies
Every time I visit my 3 1/2 yr old nephew Zander, I bring him something. Usually edible. :)
Thursday I stopped by with cookies & apple juice from McDonald's (or Nummies, as he calls it). When I saw leaving that night he said "Nenny...when you come back my hooouuuuussssee?!?". I told him I'd be back on Saturday for poker night.
Tonight we pulled up in front of the house and he was so excited to see me, like it had been years. As I crossed the…

April 30 - Day 8
Very easy gift giving day for me today. A good friend recently moved into a new home and today a group of us were invited over for brunch. I stopped at a local greenhouse yesterday and purchased her some beautiful pansy's and planted them in a bright purple pot and brought them to her this morning. Some days this is just too easy, however I have nothing planned for tomorrow so we shall see what opportunity it presents!

I'm always so happy when Saturday is over these days. That sounds so awful, I know, but I have had to convince myself that Saturday is "just a day." Thirteen hours spent in a dark room with a viewbox light on. I'm grateful for the fact that I love to read, and that I can have unlimited access to the internet. Sometimes I wander down the hall to visit just so I can see people. I saw people today, though, about 25 patients. I haven't had that many since the ice storm this past winter. …

Day 28: Tornado Relief
The front section of our newspaper is filled with every last detail of the royal wedding in England, overshadowing another momentous event across the Atlantic. One has to dig through the paper to discover that the people of the Southeastern U.S. are picking themselves up a cluster of tornadoes that tore through several states, killing at least 300. On the New York Times website, I spotted an article describing how a…

Round 3 Day #27 and #28
I was so exhaused yesterday that i completely forgot about posting my gift for the day! So, instead, you'll get 2 days in 1! After waking up so early, it compltely threw my day off so much! Was hard to get moving even after i took a bit of a nap! The entire time the wedding was going on I was facebooking with a friend and an old co-worker about it on my blackberry! I was posting something about all the different royals coming in and the celebrities! Naming them all off and talking…

Royal Gift to Me
Yesterday was the Royal Wedding. While I appreciate the pomp & circumstance & tradition, I wasn't obsessed with the whole event like billions of people world wide. However, I did attend a bit of an English celebration.
I work with a woman from England. Suzi and her husband have been in the US on work visas for at least the last 8 years that I've known her. They recently gained their official U.S. Citizenship. Time to celebrate!
They 'piggy-backed'…

Day 1- A Painted Fence
Happy Saturday!!!!!
This morning my Dad woke me up and told me he was going to a service project at our church and asked me if I'd like to come. I was surprised that he did, and it took me a couple seconds figuring out if I wanted to spend my Saturday helping instead of hanging out with friends. Most of my friends are busy on Saturdays and nothing usually happens anyways. So…

Yesterday I got a surprize from one of the stand-by school bus drivers where I work. He drives one of the buses for disabled and kids with Special Needs; this is my area at work, the Special Needs department. Well, as it happens, some of his kids became upset on the bus and the assistant had trouble sorting out the problem and surprizingly, one of the students jumped up and offered his help in calming everything down and helping the driver…

Day 2 of Mythical Round3- Getting Out
Friends came over to help me get my scooter to the mechanics. They were awesome. I felt awful… quiet literally I couldn’t even walk in a straight line without falling over from my sinuses being stuffed up. Jason & Sio were SO good to me. I tried to buy my own breakfast, they wouldn’t hear of it. I told them thank you several times and asked if there was anything I could do for them, for which they smiled and said “Nothing we can think of.” They are beautiful people. They were my…
