Today I got up early and made Coffee for my husband who had to leave for work early. Our daughter had been sick the evening before and neither of us had gotten any sleep. I know it is a small token, but it helped him get a start on the day.

This is sure getting harder & harder! But I do love consciously trying to figure out a way to give every day. I definitely will have this in the back of my head even after the 29 days, as something to accomplish in my day, or at least be aware of.
Anyway...
11~I gave my 'listening ears' to my cousin for 2+ hours on the phone. She's a mother of 2 (5 & 9), possibly going through a divorce, working a new job that she hates & recently found out because of her…

Today at Stew Leonard's (grocery store) I ran into my first "rejection." My little family had a receipt for over $100 from the store, and you can use it to get a free ice cream out front. I tried to give it to another woman who was standing in line for ice cream. She was holding a toddler on her hip. She was so uncomfortable and resistant to my offer. It just made me reflect on giving and getting and how suspicious we are of other people trying to do nice things.
Too many charities…

I'm just getting the hang of this. I posted on my blog for who ever reads it to join me on this 29- day giving challenge. Today I put my neighbors newpapers in her mailbox. She has been away and apparently didn't stop the delivery.

I was sick in bed, so I decided to write my friend a mail telling her how great a mother I thought she was and that when I have children I will fly her over to Japan to teach me all the tricks!

When my husband came to bed at 12:30, I knew that, despite it being his turn to get up with the baby in the morning, I would be giving him a break.
The other opportunity to give that I've had so far was my place in line at Long's Drugs. A woman who'd been waiting in the next line over, which was moving quite slowly, moved to my line. I let her go ahead.. she'd been waiting longer. Interestingly, she was in a huge hurry. You wouldn't have known it from her calm demeanor.

Yesterday was a super busy day. I really didn't think I gave anything until I reviewed my day. Last night I was part of something wonderful. It was the 75th anniversary of Monroe High School's band program. They had a concert and a song composed just for the band program. I was able to sit up on stage with people that I went to highschool with and play sax again. It felt like a gift to myself because it was something I have really missed and it brought me to tears. After thinking over it. I did…

Today I spread the ashes of my friend in the ocean. All of my friends gathered at home to celebrate the birthday of my friend Rob who died earlier this year. We gathered, friends and family, to spread the ashes of Rob into the ocean.
It was one of the saddest days of my life. He touched the lives of so many and I am so sad to know that he won't be on this journey with me of life any longer.
It was so nice to spend time with friends this weekend and celebrate Rob.I know he…

I helped my daughter and her troupe plant some plants in a kindness garden at school. I really had so much work that day, but I went to help to guide the girls to plant. It turned out to be a wonderful day. One of the mother's arrived from a very hard day at work, and stressed out. She had some words with her daughter and we witnessed how words can hurt, but sometimes circumstances prevent us from dealing with things with a patient and kind heart.
At the end of the planting, I remembered…

This week has been extremely trying. The most I was able to give this week was patience and a shoulder to cry on and it was daily, 7 days of patience and a couple days of a shoulder.
My spirit was low by Wednesday and I needed a release. Then I received a gift of a shoulder to cry on, which felt so good. It made me realize that I am giving a true gift when I give patience and a shoulder. The people receiving it are grateful and feel a bit lighter.

Day 9, May 30
Today we mailed 5 old cell phones to
myboneyard.com. They have no reward value, so it was our gift to the planet and the future to see that they were disposed of in a responsible manner. Currently, the Boneyard requires that each phone be shipped separately, so we also got rid of 5 recycled padded envelopes.
At dinner Jim and I helped my mom with some correspondence for her '08-'09 5th graders.

Thursday, May 28 - I mowed the yard for my husband today. I forgot how much I enjoyed that - NOT! But anyway, it was a nice thing to do so he didnt' have to worry about it after he got home from work. I also committed to volunteering as a helper in the PreK room for St. Mary Magdalene Vacation Bible School in June AND Nursery for one Sunday in July. It made me feel good because Julie (head of both VBS and SMM Nursery) had been praying for a volunteer for both instances and I was just what she…

At work, there has been someone who has really been going out of their way to help me get some of my projects across the finish line. I know that they are super busy and don't have time to stop and help me but they always go above and beyond, especially lately.
Today I gave them a thank you card to let them know how much they have helped me, helped my projects and really made a big difference in my life.
We also had someone at work retiring. She is a really cool lady and I…

I DID send the flowers. I had to pick my niece up from school yesterday and she was in tears. I just told her she didn't need to say anything unless she needed something of me. I feel so deeply for her. I really hope this surgery makes everything better and she can live a normal life with her children. She has been through so much in the past year.

I invited by friend's son to the exhibition of a famous manga artist - it's all over Ueno and the kid loves manga.
He doesn't get to meet many adults, so hopefully this is a good opportunity!
