Today I gave up a day of work to go hang out with my bestie, Elsa, who is leaving me soon to go to India.   We went op-shopping for fabric, had the best lunch at the Berry Farm cottage and bought her a moroccan chutney for our morroccan themed dinner party! It was a delicious day!!

I offered to babysit a friends 3 year old, as her 4 week old baby has been keeping her up all night and she was having trouble keeping it together.   An hour or two turned into 5 hours, which was actually great! The kids had a really nice time together. 

Gift 20,

Tonight I gave myself some time to start a project I have wanted to do for a long time.  A crochet blanket.  A monumental task for a beginner chrocheter! So I started, then I had to give myself some patience, kept going and gave myself some encouragement and when I finished my first little hexagon after about 2 hours of unravelling and re-doing it, I gave myself a big pat on the back! I have just figured out how to download photos from my phone onto the computer so will post…

Today I didn't give a specific gift, but I did spend the day in a constant state of mindful giving. Lots of small everyday gifts, of family time, of doing chores happily and without resentment, stopping work when it was time to and having dinner at the table instead of infront of the TV . it was a very happy and peaceful day. I'm not sure if this counts but from what I can gather it is this constant state of mindful giving everyday that is the aim of this game... :)

Today I bought $10 of scratchie lotto tickets and put them in a card with an anonymous good luck message and then Quinn and I went for a walk down the street and put it into a random letterbox.  We picked one that was broken in the storm so that when they found the letterbox they at least got a nice surprise inside.  

A day devoted (mostly) to having fun with my girl... no computer,  no seeing MY friends and no sewing!!

I said yes every time she asked me to play with her.  We played ring-o-rosie which is a favourite, watched the movies that she wanted to watch, and read heaps of books.  We went through her box of things that I have saved from when she was a baby and looked at all of the precious stuff.  I found a string of flower fairy lights that I have strung around her bedhead as a night light. …

I was talking to a friend today about the challenge and wondering what I could do for todays gift.  I mentioned that I have been feeling like I have been a little lax in my giving and needed more inspiration.  She advised that instead of thinking of what I might like to give, maybe think of something that someone else WANTS or has ASKED me to do for them.

So,  I havent done it yet  (I will when Quinn goes off to sleep) but my gift for today is to fix up a blouse that my friend has…

I happily played designated driver for my friends going away lunch at a winery yesterday.  This is something that doesn't happen very often or with much enthusiasm.  But it was nice to be the sober one for once!

I was woken early by a friend who needed a baby sitter for 8am! Of course I said I would  do it.     So she brought her daughter over and we hung out for a while. That was gift 1. Then after a lazy cup  of tea and some  chocolate we all went shopping! Two toddlers and a newborn in the backseat of the car at nap time... not the best idea as they were too excited to sleep (the baby slept though I dont know how)

I also lent her my ears...  We went through pretty much the exact same…

Today I  helped to buy some chickens for a family in Cambodia through my uncles church project :)

A birthday message to my first boyfriend (who lets face it was a bit of a psycho) who is recovering from a traumatic brain injury from a hit and run accident 6 months ago. 

It has taken 10 years for me to let go of everything that happened but I think this was an acknowledgement that even though I hate what he did I still care about him as another human being. 

Some interesting things have come about recently,  energy is definately shifting!

My Ex has finally opened up to me after almost four years.  The change in him is so profound and with no pestering, preaching or persuasion from me! Could it be that we could make it work after all...?

Also, yesterday I had a surprise run in with my old boss which led to us talking about what a shame it was that our business plans for raw food retreats never came into being. 

Then…

I cleaned the house and prepared a yummy home cooked meal for my best friend... then she rang to cancel! does this count? I am not sure but the intent was there :)

A Lazy girly afternoon with my baby girl... We hired Barbie movies, ate popcorn and raw chocolate. Yum. 2 happy bellies.

For my gift today I am researching eczema on the request of my ex, who I have just told about this giving challenge.  A friend of his suffers greatly and has just decided to quit his job because it is causing him too much grief.   So Grant has asked me to find a number of a specific dermatologist that my friend knows.  I thought that for something a little bit extra, I would research a bit more into it and put a little package together for him of all of the things that are supposed to…

Today I gave away a vintage dressing table to my girlfriend who was over for a few wines.  She commented on how lovely it was and asked what I was doing with it.  So I told her it was hers ( I had been looking for someone to give it to, it has been sitting in my hall for weeks now) She was so excited!

A free reflexology treatment for my ex, who has been working hard on the mines so that we can keep up with the mortgage payments...
