We had to take Gusto back to the vet today for a checkup and got the bad news that he is considered "hospice" at this point due to his kidney disease.  I worked from home today because I wanted to see if he was eating and drinking normally.  There isn't any change to his condition, but he certainly won't get any better from here.  My gift today was that I took Dottie on an extra long walk and let her explore the neighborhood a little.  She enjoyed it and it was good for me to get out of the…

I was tired when I picked the boys up today.  Mondays have been especially difficult the past few months due to some staff shortages, so I'm really done by the end of the day.  I picked up the boys and immediately heard from Jack how we had not gone to 7-Eleven on Friday to get Slurpees.  I reminded him that we actually went to Toys R Us on Friday and he got a toy to celebrate his report card.  Although going to 7-Eleven meant making a U-Turn and hauling the baby seat in with me, I gave in…

Today we went over to my sister-in-law's to celebrate her birthday (along with my husband, her twin's).  We brought some vegetables (because my husband and I are dieting) and a giftcard for my SIL.  We brought the dog and had a nice day with the family.

On my way in to the grocery store, I noticed a man collecting money for a veteran's organization.  When I finished my shopping, I got $10 cash back and dropped it in the collection box on my way out.

Today my office made breakfast for us.  My gift in the scenario was taking some time to sit with my co-workers and chat about random things, not including work, and give us all a break for a few minutes.  Normally, I take any food back to my desk and work while I eat, but it was a nice gift of time to give to others.

Today I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a few little surprises for my boys.  Jack loves drinking from a straw, so I always make sure to get him holiday themed straws.  Today I found some with Easter Eggs on them, which I know he will love.

There is something in me that does not want to admit defeat on a night when I have just been too busy to plan dinner.  On the way home from school, I asked my 6-year-old what he wanted for dinner.  He proclaimed hotdogs the victor.  My husband is also a big fan of hotdogs, so we all had hotdogs and chips.  It wasn't the healthiest dinner, but it made everyone happy, so that was a gift to them.

If was also, in a way, a gift for me because I didn't have to cook.

Today, my husband turns 36.  I met him for lunch and we plan on dinner out as a family.

One of my students confided in me that he really needed to get an A in my class to get his GPA up to graduation level.  He worked really hard this month, so I gave him an extra credit assignment to give him the few points he needed.

Jack missed the celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday because he was sick on Friday, so tonight for dinner I made him Green Eggs and Ham.

Today, I was supposed to attend a bridal shower for a friend, but with Jack not feeling well, I thought it would be best for all of us to stay home and snuggle up.  It was rather chilly out (for Florida), so we spent the day watching movies and just relaxing as a family.

Jack threw up first thing this morning.  What a great way to start a new month, huh?  Because of his absurd amount of vacation time, my husband took the day off to stay home with a sick Jack.  I had to go to work, but left as soon as I was able and stopped by the store to get things to help him feel better, including a toy and pedialite to help him rehydrate.

Placeholder.  I know I gave gifts this week, but I can't remember what they were right now.  Hopefully I will remember and be able to add them in.

Today I brought Alex's 6 months pictures in for his caregivers.  They oohed and ahhed over them and took their favorites with my blessing.  Alex is so happy and has such a great smile.  I hope he continues to share his smile with the world.  It is such a gift to all of us.

Today I bought a water from the vending machine for myself and thought about how thrilled I was when I found an extra bag of candy in the bottom of the machine when I went to retrieve my treat.  So, I bought an extra bottle of water (no one was around) and left it in the machine.  I checked back later and it was gone, so someone got a happy treat on a Monday morning.  Considering most of the people in this building are broke students, I'm sure it made someone's day and they will never know I…

A few weeks ago, my SIL let me know that a friend of hers, who I have met, is leaving her abusive husband.  She has two small boys and is in need of clothes for them.  I got some clothes together and asked some co-workers what they had that they could donate.  I also put together some cleaning supplies and personal items and gave her a TV/DVD combo we weren't using.  My SIL came over to pick them up and told me how much she had appreciated the Kashi cereal I had given her in Round 1.  I'm…

My husband has been wanting a dog for a while now, so on Saturday we went to the SPCA and brought home an 11-month-old Springer Spaniel who we named Dottie.  This gift mainly benefited my husband and Dottie, but also our whole family.  Alex thinks it's hysterical when she barks and is not afraid of her at all.  I will post a picture later when I'm home.

I hadn't thought of a gift for the day when I saw a FB post that my friend from high school was trying to raise money for Give Kids the World.  I gave her $20 and helped her exceed her goal.  This round's giving was all about giving what people really needed from me, and this gift definitely presented itself.

Thursday I finally had the chance to use my birthday gift (from November) and get my car detailed.  The guy came to my house and spent two hours on my car.  It looked great, so I tipped the guy $20.

Wednesday night's gift was a bit of a challenge for me.  I was home all day with a baby who refused to nap and I hadn't managed to get a lot of work done, so I was a little stressed and wanted to spend some of the time after the kids were in bed to get some things done.  My husband asked that I spend time with him, so I shut my computer down and gave him my attention.
