Day 28- Commendation Emails

As I mentioned in earlier blogs I have decided to take some college classes after taking a while off from school. If anyone is a veteran and has ever attempted to apply for or use the GI Bill, you know it can be a huge headache. About three weeks ago I encountered two people that really made my experience go smooth. One of them was a military college counselor and the other was a gentleman that was an expert when it came to using the GI Bill. The counselor sat down with me for three long… Continue

Day 26- Helping Hand

Today I volunteered a helping hand to my dad who was installing a stove in one of the apartment properties, rather than him spending the money to hire an installer I figured we can tackle it together.
Man............. I always get myself into something! After 3 hours and a few trips to home depot we finally got it done! So now I can add installing a stove to my list of accomplishments! lol

Day 25- Strength

Sometimes I think we need to be reminded of how strong we are and how we really do have unlimited potential. Today I reminded a few good friends of their strength. It seems as though we are all going through something now-a-days, but if we look at our past lessons and what we have overcome, our "problems" now can most definitely be conquered.

~You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have~

Day 24- Back to School

So after a four year break, I decided to take advantage of my GI Bill and take some college courses. It is so nice to be back. My class is extremely diverse. I love it! There happens to be a few students from Vietnam who just recently came to America. How brave of them to enroll in school, barely knowing English! My Vietnamese is a little rough around the edges, but I decided my gift today and for the rest of the semester would be to help them out. Even trade- help me with my Vietnamese and I… Continue

Day 23- Progging. Progging. Progging.

There is nothing I love more than to workout in the great outdoors! One of my favorite places to be is at the top of Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills while the sun is setting. Aaaaaaaahhhhh. So simple, yet beautiful. Although, getting to the top is no easy task, once you're there it is all worth it. As I sat at the top (barely breathing) lol, I see this little wood box with 2 holes in it. One hole say "give a prayer" and the other hole says "take a prayer." Hmmmmmm. I walked over to the box… Continue

Day 22- Be Inspired!

Everyday I seem to run into women that just simply amaze me! Today I came across a beautiful middle age lady selling jewelry in LA jewelry district. We talked for a while and she shared a few pictures of her family with me. She happens to have 4 beautiful daughters. I can't imagine what a difficult task that must have been to have all those girls under one roof! Ugh! Not only were her girls gorgeous; one is a lawyer, one is a interior designer, one is a doctor, and one is going to school to be… Continue

Day 21- Hormones!

I'm just wondering.......... Are there any kind of meds pregnant women can take to help them be a little less hormonal? lol Today I got a frantic call from one of my girlfriends who happens to be pregnant! She was ranting and raving about I don't even know what. My gift today was patience and listening skills. I felt like I was a hostage negotiator trying to talk her out of something. Not an easy task I must say, but mission accomplished! My heart goes out to all of you men! ;)

Day 20- Crystal's Qoutes

Everybody who knows me, knows I looove me some quotes! Quotes are such a great way for me to put things into perspective and I have found out along my lil 27year journey that others really appreciate them too. Sometimes when someone is down I will just send them a qoute pertaining to their issue. It's great and always works! So today, I was with a friend that needs a little "inspiration." I know he never wants to talk about things or likes to hear me preach! lol So I handed him my blackberry… Continue

Day 18- Time for Telemarketers

Have you ever thought about how hard it must be to be a telemarketer? Why do they always call at the wrong time? What the heck are they even selling? I hate to admit it, but as soon as I hear their voice I just want to hang up. So today my gift was to just be nice to them and pretend I'm actually listening to their schpeel about who knows what. lol Out of all the gifts that one was the hardest one for me to give! lol I can't imagine how difficult their job must be, because I know I'm not the… Continue

Day 17- Todd

So it's Wednesday. I had a long productive day, but my heart was telling me to go to church service at 7:15. There is a meditation session before each service. So everybody that doesn't go to meditation forms a line outside the building waiting for 7:15 to come around. I'm standing in line and I ask this gentleman in front of me if I'm in the right line. He goes on to tell me he's not sure and it's his first time at this church. He went onto share with me how recently he resigned from his job… Continue

Day 15- Micke D's and Make-up

Today I came across a pretty young girl working at Mcdonald's. Her makeup was done so perfectly. I gave her a compliment on her beauty and also told her she has a natural talent for doing make-up. I could tell she was so excited and flattered that somebody recognized her. She went on to tell me that she absolutely loves doing make-up and has a ton of it! I gave her some info on good make-up schools she can go to in the area. It really brought a smile to my face and made me realize that… Continue

Day 16- Mothers For Haiti

Today I crossed paths with an extraordinary women. I have yet to meet her, but I know I will someday. I'm currently planning an event to raise money for Haiti and I was looking for a charity to team up with. Every charity I have been contacting hasn't been very helpful or prompt on returning my calls or emails. Kinda frustrating! My girlfriend mentioned Partners In Health. I called them and to my dismay, I finally was able to speak to a real live person! Thanks Anne! Not only did I get a call… Continue

Day 14- Slooooow Dooooooown

Geez I'm finally realizing that there is more to life than increasing it's speed. I was suppose to go back to the OC today to get some more work done. But, I decided to stay. I came to the realization that lately I'm so busy trying to make my career bigger and better, that I sometimes overlook the fact that I need to stop and smell the flowers, spend time on the little things in life. The simple things are the most important things of all! So, I put off a few appts. and sacrificed a little more… Continue

Day 12- Jacob Told Me to Spread The Good News

So this weekend I'm in San Diego with my nephews again. My 6-year old nephew amazes me more and more each day. I challenged him to a game of baseball on the WII. Before the game started he told me he was going to get 6 points and hit 2 home runs. Well, when the game was over he did just that, 6 points and 2 home runs! A little bell went off in my head and I thought what a perfect opportunity to teach him one of the most important life lessons. The power of positive thinking!

"Jacob!… Continue

Day 11- Granny Time

Today I decided to pay a visit to my cute lil grandma! She is such a special women that has overcome so many obstacles. There is nothing I love more than to just make her laugh, whether it's teasing her about a boyfriend with no teeth or telling her a funny story...........her smile just brings me so much joy. It made me come to the conclusion that I need to do this more often. So we have a date again next week! I love you Grandma!

Day 10- 2 lil muts

I have come to realize that I'm extremely blessed to have so many "good" people/friends around me. Today my gift was to a girlfriend of mine that I've known since I was born. My mother and her mother grew up together in Vietnam, both came to America, married white men, and had us! 2 little muts! ;) I wrote her a little note just saying how grateful I truly am to have her in my life. Thanks for always being there Lynnsky! Women like her inspire me to be better..........I am grateful!… Continue

Day 9- This One's for you Haiti!

Let me begin by saying today I'm the proudest auntie in the whole wide world. My 6 year old nephew recently approached me and told me he wanted to raise money for Haiti and asked if I had any ideas. (My sister is the best mom!) I came up with the idea of writing a letter to all of the neighbors and asking for them to donate their bottles and cans to him and he will in turn give the money to The Red Cross. I'm still speechless......this little man is such a gift. I adore him!… Continue
