Day 7 and 8

Yesterday, I mailed a copy of a Mitch Albom book " a little bit of faith" to a friend who is going through some treatment. Last night I was browsing my People magazine, and low and behold I saw "29gifts" book in the giving section idea. I was so excited to see it there! I will be picking up another copy for my sister and passing it along to her for Christmas. Continue

Day 6

My Uncle in the Philippines has passed away this morning. My mom called me to book a flight for my Uncle who lives in Manila, back to their hometown in Butuan. I thought about it and this would mean my Uncle would be away from his family for Christmas to attend the funeral of my other Uncle. I thought about it and spoke to my husband, and we both agreed that this Christmas will be hard for my whole family so we bought a ticket for my Aunt and cousin to fly with him to attend the Funeral and be t… Continue

My give is a 3 part gift: My cousin who is like a sister to me; As she grew up with me when my mother sponsored her from the philippines years ago. Supporting our Local Farmers

I've been trying to eat Organic and healthier over the past few weeks, and I decided to take it one step further....We started looking into our local farmers for meat and fresh produce. It is becoming a wonderful experience. It Makes me feel great helping local farmers who are struggling; compared to the big Food Giants who mass produce their animals and crops with hormones etc.... It is pricier but, it is actually keeping me out of our grocery store; which in turn prevents me from eating all t… Continue

Finally Got my hands on a book

Went to our local chapters and there it was Cami's book. I bought it, and as I browsed another lady was in the section and I encouraged her to read it too, when I went to the line up to check out I noticed the lady had it under her arm. Upcoming gives, 2 BOO bags to drop anonomously on 2 of my neighbors doorsteps and a birthday cake for my friend's son who's husband/dad is dying of Cancer. Continue

Stopping in :)

Hello all, I haven't had time to blog much, I'm currently trying to juggle going back to school (my gift to me) while juggling working fulltime still. I have been giving everyday, small random acts of kindness, but just haven't had time to blog everyday. I'm currently at work with some down time and I thought I would come and blog a little. Last few days of giving

My neighbor wanted company to take her daughters to a play group, but she needed help because one of her kids is only 7 weeks old. I was really busy and didn't really have time, but I decided to slow it down and give her some company and a hand. My next give took a couple of days. It was for my son. We are having a kiddie halloween party on the 17th, I was planning on throwing on my annual devil head band and calling it a costume. My 3 year old son is currently obsessed with transformers and is… Continue

Taking things for granted

We spoke with my Uncle yesterday and he was laughing telling us the story of swimming to a rope tied to a lamp post to help stay afloat with the floods current. Then he told us about sitting on top of a bunk bed with his family watching the water rise, and then moving to the roof of the house, while watching others sitting on their roofs too. I couldn't believe that he was in such great spirits. He just said it's a bunch of things that can be replaced or washed, there was no need to be upset, bu… Continue

Sending Money to the Philippines

We have been trying to get a hold of my Uncle and cousins in the Philippines after the Flood that hit Manila. We finally got a hold of them and found out they had to stay on their roof while all of their possessions and belongings were destroyed or sewpt away. My mom was sending a bit of money home, and I decided to send a matching amount....I can't imagine being devastated like this. To top it off it is my Uncle's 60th birthday on Friday :( Continue

Same old same old....

No new giving on my end. Still working on my project "baby". Offering support, Formula and diapers to the single mom. I find out today if her employer will be keeping her or letting her go. Over the weekend, treated my family to dinner and our gifts were well received by my brother and Dad for their birthday. Trying to come up with new Gifts for the up coming week. Continue

Birthday gift, other than a gift certificate

It's my brother and fathers birthday's coming up. I've noticed that all we ever do is pass each other gift cards. We never take the time to actually think about each other and choose a gift that we think they will like. So, today I took some time before I go to work tonight to go from store to store looking for an actual "gift, gift" for my family members. Hopefully they enjoy the purchase instead of a gift certificate at a store. Jess Continue

Getting into shape and a give to my son.

A gal in the neighborhood, who lost her husband last year, wants to get back into shape and wanted a personal trainer but cannot afford one. I went on a weight loss journey of my own over a year, working out on my own while using weight watchers, so I told her that I would be happy to help her in her journey using the tools I used. My second Give is to my son. For a while I have been in denial that he has a behaviour and speech problem, but today I let down my guard and finally got him assesse… Continue

Eyeball cake picture and my receive

Our co-worker couldn't stop laughing, then we had to stop him from taking his eye out and putting it on the cake. He said " Well, jess, I have to say in my 22 years of losing my eye, we've never had a party LOL" He said it made his night, and it made mine too! Continue

Eyeball cake :) Edtied to add my recieve.

This is sort of black humour I guess...but our co-workers are a bunch of big jokers. We have an engineer who has a glass eye from an accident a long time ago. He always, scares us with this eye, taking it out, or tapping it with a pen, etc.... Anyways, he was telling us how the 22nd of September is his eyeball losing anniversary, so I am baking a cake and surprising him at his desk with a cake that looks like an eye. It is sure to get alot of laughs tonight on shift! My recieve today: I got an… Continue

Formula, diapers and clothes

I was able to pick up a bunch of clothes from a local mom who's kids have outgrown them. And bought diapers and formula on my trip to the grocery store. We dropped it all off, to the single mom I've been writing about. Erik, our nanny and I had a talk about how we can help her out. We decided that when she is ready to go back to work part time, we will be watching the newborn. We will see how this goes for 3 months and assess if it is too much for us, our kids etc... but, we wanted to foster in… Continue

Re-kindling the past

After soul searching about why this little baby of a single mother is touching me so much, I came to realize a long lost friend. I had a very close friend in highschool, who got pregnant at 16. We sort of went our seperate ways after that....My mother who is still friends her mother, gets updates from time to time and now that we are both in our thirites, I hear she is doing quite well for herself, mother of 2 kids. Anyways, I know it's a million years ago, but I wrote her a letter and just se… Continue

Overwhelmed with all the sadness around....

Last night I went to bed and was sobbing. My husband asked me why and I told him all that was on my mind..... My friends husband who is fighting Melenoma and losing his battle, That little baby who has very little, Our Aunt who is going in for her second mastectomy next week....I am just overwhelmed. I wish there was more I could do........
