29-Day Giving Challenge

Sometimes a gift can be something you DON'T give (i.e. negativity, drama, gossiping etc). For example, it can be difficult to 'get the job done' if two of your colleagues have some issues to resolve with one another. In the past I might have tried to mediate, or tell some story illustrating my opinion etc. I chose to focus on the work and silently send them both love. Guess what? The situation ended. So I'm thinking today about the gift of silence...

(P.S. Of course my appreciation for the power of silence comes from my beautiful son Danson who is 'non-verbal' yet speaks louder than anyone I've ever met.)

I agree with Jane; this is a very difficult gift to give. I think the power of silence is much overlooked in our culture. We often work so hard to fill the spaces between words and arguments, having little patience for letting our situations unfold.

Sounds like you enjoy the gift of Danson every day! Lucky you!!!

I love this -- this is very difficult too. I sometimes try to not say anything negative all day. Sadly, I have never made it. My son is verbal but does not hear. However he listens more than most people. Has Danson learne sign? It is a beautiful language.

Congrats on Day 1! I've recently read quite a bit about KIVA, so I'm looking forward to that being one of my "giftings" in the next 27 days (I'm 2 days in).

It was really nice of you to think of your sick co-worker, and to remember how you felt in the same situation. Have fun at the hockey game!
