29-Day Giving Challenge

A few days ago I watched a video on Huffington Post of Cami talking about her journey toward giving and there were scenes of her handing out flowers to perfect strangers mostly. The look of surprse on their faces was priceless. I was in the supermarket yesterday morning and hadn't really decided what to give for the day. I spotted a dozen beautiful peach roses and I bought them.

The first one I gave was to the supermarket checker. Oh, how precious her look of gratitude was. She held up the rose and said, to no one in particular, "She gave me a rose!" I took the rest of the roses to my office and just handed them out randomly. It was so sweet to walk around the office later and see the roses on peoples desks, stuck in plastic water bottles, little jars, laying down wrapped in wet papertowels. Everyone asked, "What's this for?" All I said was, "For you".

I also finally gave the "Obamas in the White House" book to my office manager who just came back to work yesterday after being sick last week. She was so touched and loved the book. She emailed me last evening to say she owes me a hug.

What a gorgeous picture! Your story reminds me I need to keep a sense of humor when dealing with my own teenagers. It's a roller coaster of emotions when dealing with teens. I guess all you can do is hold on tight and try to enjoy the ride!

My first act of giving is to attend worship. Giving myself and my thanks to God for an hour seems like a great way to start.
