29-Day Giving Challenge

Here is a gift for everyone and all of my frineds here at 29 Days...

I would like to share with all of you a wonderful soup that is healing, cleansing and great for your body. It tastes great too. I have added my own twist to this traditional recipe.

This is Yogi Bhajan's soup:

Dice 5 potatoes

cut up 4-5 stalks of celery

cut up 4-5 carrots in to very small pieces

dice an onion

Sautee all of these vergetables lightly.in a pan for 5-7 minutes to soften them a bit.

Next chop 3-4 cloves of garlic and add them to the mix. ( garlic can be according to your taste)

Fill the post 3/4 with water ( or you can use vergetabel broth, or chicken broth)

Let the soup boil and then simmer..

While the soup is simmering, in a seperate pan pour in 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil and add the following ingredients:

cumin

coriander

cardomon

cayennes pepper

tumeric

(I dont really measure, but you can do about 1/4 tablespoon of each.)

Stir the spices around and let all of the spices mix together for about 1-2 minutes. This step is important to begin to bring out the flavor of the spices, rather then just throwing them in to the pot of soup.

after 1-2 minutes, now you can throw the spices and oil in to the pot of soup. Let it cook for 45 minutes to an hour.

Here is my twist, I like to throw in a can of lentils which make it mroe hearty and full of protein as well.

So if you try it, let me know how it goes. My family loves it. Usually, they dont like things that are very healthy for them. What do you think?

Namaste,

Susan
