29-Day Giving Challenge

My three big fears are snakes, needles and spiders (in that order).Today I faced my fear of needles and donated blood. It only took me about an hour and could end up saving 3 lives.

My gift (besides the Nutter Butters and juice) is that since starting to donate blood every two months a few years ago, my fear of needles has been greatly reduced. I still don't see me getting piercings or tattoos anytime in the near future though :).

Giving Blood is such a wonderful loving gift -- and the fact that you are stepping out of your comfort zone and facing your fear makes it extra special.  You are a very brave person -- someone once said that being brave does not mean not being afraid -- it means doing what is right even though you are afraid.  Have a great day.

Needles was a big fear of mine!  In fact about 6 months or so, before I was diagnosed with MS, I was playing Jepordy with my boyfriend at the time.  The question was about what kind of illness requires you to give yourself daily injections.  I said diabetes and I was right, after that I said to him without even thinking why I was saying it, but I said, I think I could handle any illness as long as I didn't have to give myself a shot!  Well you really have to becareful of what you say when God can hear you, cause 6 months later I was diagnosed with MS.  And about 6 months after my diagnosis I made the very hard decision to start taking a treatment for it.  I know have to do an injection every other day!  I was so deathly afraid of needles that I use to have panic attacks and would cry for hours before and after.   But let me tell you, I guess when it comes to your health, you'll do anything, even those things you said you would never be able to do!  I hate them, but I do them to stay healthy!  So I am so happy and proud of  you for conquering your fear of needles and for such a wonderful cause!  Congrats!  Happy Giving! :)
