Now that I don't have access to a car anymore getting around has been challenging. I posted on Facebook that I needed a ride today. A woman I have never met answered the call, with her 4 children in tow. October is my busy month with all the body painting and chalk art going on. She has been watching me for several months online... we had nearly 30 friends in common. Today she came to get me and run me to where I needed to go. She is an amazing mom with how attentive she is with her kids.
She overheard me with my bodypainter friend about my transportation issues. When I got back in the car she offered to come pick me up from the club and take me to my early appointment tomorrow morning.
I was, I am, overwhelmed by her generosity.
She explained to me that getting to go somewhere late at night felt like getting to go out for real... (she was inferring that with her kids that is not often possible for her.) Also that because I was volunteering tomorrow to bodypaint for a fundraiser for Children's Advocacy fundraiser, that I was reminding of her of her mother who had passed away. To her it was more of a gift and exchange because her mom was a face painter, who helped kids. She was in near tears telling me what it meant to her just to do this for me... Also she is coming to the club glow party tonight early so she can have a little fun herself. Something I don't think she gets to do very much because of the kids. It was really touching... and I am glad that my need allowed her to connect with the spirit of her mom and lets her get a little mini night out away from the kids...
It's a huge circle of giving... she helps me, help the children's advocacy fund, which helps her... like ripples in a pond, or ocean... there's no telling how far it will ultimately reach.

Comment by Jezga on October 6, 2012 at 4:48pm I love this story. I struggle with letting people help me, but oftentimes it is a gift to both the giver and the recipient.
Comment by Dawn wwt on October 6, 2012 at 4:39pm what a wonderful giving story! it is obvious that in filling your need, she had a (perhaps previously unknown or unacknowledged) need filled for herself :o) and the children are benefitting to boot, it doesn't get any better than that in my book. ripples spreading, ever outward... take care, Mythica. i hope the fundraiser is a rip-roaring success! Hugs, Dawn xoxo
