Since I signed up on this page it has been interesting on how much I am aware of the opportunities to give with a purpose. Like taking my niece to the laundry mat she has Lupus and cannot drive, and while there she needed to get change. I ended up having to go into the casino to get change for two twenties on the way back I counted out the money and the kid had givien me ten dollars to much. So I took him back the extra ten dollars and he was very appreciative of my honesty. While there a woman came up and asked if we could push her dryer when it stopped because it was free dryer day..so we did...but because of daylight savings the dryers stopped being free and hour early..her dryer stopped and so I stuck a dollar in it so that it would continue and her clothes would be dry when she returned.
We left before she returned. I hope her clothes were dry upon her return.
My niece was grateful to have all of her laundry caught up...it filled the whole back seat and back end of the suv. Doing things for her is not only helpful but she is so good to me and everybody. Her husband just started to go to college out of town at the tribal college. Their SUV needs a new engine, so as I was driving it I was a little worried the whole time..but we made it and was able to take her to pay her rent and to the bank.
I would do these things anyways but belonging to this kind of endeavor makes me feel as though I am doing things and being made to be aware of the things I do naturally..kind of like when I do yoga one has to concentrate on breathing ..I breath anyway but when one becomes aware of something it allows one to connect with the action of breathing in a deliberate fashion.
I noticed that this endeavor allows for that kind of connection..and to be more aware of opportunities...to give to others and make that connection.
I am a veteren and while my sister was visiting yesterday she handed me a card, I asked "What is this for?" She said Veterens day..and inside she had written that I was her hero..that really touched my heart. She gave me one to give to my daughter who is in the process of getting out of the Army after 8 years and her gift touched my daughter who is sick with a bad cold.
So now each day I am aware of the abundance of opportunities to give...and I thank you for this "good" kind of connection you have given to all of us to remember that we are all in this together and while we are here we should practice the art of giving...
