29-Day Giving Challenge

I have been debating when my first day would be. I guess I wanted to start off my first 29 days with a "bang". Today, however, the opportunity just came to me. I was eating lunch with my daughter and we were sitting right behind the hostess station. The hostess was about 21 and greeted everyone so warmly and happily that I really noticed her. (I must admit I generally don't pay much attention to the hostess.) Every so often, maybe only 2 or 3 times during the hour we were there, she had a minute to breathe between people coming and going and in those moments I could catch a glimpse of how tired she was. Upon leaving, she once again gave us that bright smile and I smiled back while passing her $10. She tried to wave it away with an "Oh, no..." and I replied "You don't get enough appreciation for standing here all day. It's yours." Her eyes widened and she began to thank me profusely, I just gave her a wink and a wave and went out the door. I can't wait for tomorrow!

This is wonderful Chandra! One of the amazing things for me has been how this challenge has "opened" my eyes to the opportunities for giving that are out there! Your post is a great example of that!

This is an amazing way to start your challenge! I'm sure it made her day. Many hostess' and greeters don't get the credit they deserve. My 9-yr old daughter pointed this out to me just last week. She made a point to approach the greeter at our local superstore and thank him for greeting us each time we come in.
