29-Day Giving Challenge

A friend of mine who recently had a double mastectomy and chemo / radiation to fight breast cancer sent me this positive quote which she said helped her through her ordeal.  I wanted to share it with all of you.

I am responsible. Although I may not be able to prevent the worst from happening, I am responsible for my attitude toward the inevitable misfortunes that darken life. Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have – life itself.

Thank you very much for this.  Personal responsibility... quite the commitment.  And she sounds like quite the survivor, with much more to still offer in this life.

And thanks for the picture too... my screensaver is a giant cartoon sun face that says "I Choose Joy" which was drawn by a girl with a brain tumor who may... or may not... or may... live a normal lifespan.  Just a small reminder of how it *is* the little things that add up to the *big* picture.

Sending a hug your way to pass on to your friend--
