Today I was trying to figure out what to give and couldn't come up with any ideas. I happened to be on Craigslist and saw that they had a "Wanted" section. (where people list items that they want to find) One of the first postings was from our local art museum. They are looking for extra art supplies for their arts program! And you know me: I have a whole room full of art supplies! So I filled a box with all kinds of goodies to drop off to them next week.
After collecting all that art stuff, I realized that I also have many wonderful art books. I love them, but I haven't cracked most of them in years. So I wrote the museum and asked if they had a lending library for students, and if not: would they like to start one?
It feels so good, because art has changed my life. I am glad to be helping others to discover the healing powers of art by sharing my surplus supplies. I even ran across some stuff I forgot I had! ;)
If you are ever at a loss on what to give, try going to craigslist and see if there is a need you can easily fill for someone! This is now on my list to check into regularly!
