It's a bit challenging to complete a 29-day challenge while on bed rest. Still, I'm looking for creative ways to give without having to get up (out of bed, that is). I'm pushing past the physical constraints & emotional turmoil (an interesting mix of hope, fear, & boredom) that define bed rest to rise to the challenge.
Day One
Yesterday, I found this web site, http://www.care2.com/click-to-donate/ where you can click to donate to various charities. For the past two days, I have contributed to freekibble.com, a site where you answer a trivia question and food is donated to animal shelters. I was always a sucker for useless facts, starting with my Quiz Bowl days in high school (read: nerd alert) so this daily trivia giving game is perfect for me.
Day Two
Today, I "friended" a lady on one of my pregnancy boards who was having problems with her insurance company. It felt good & empowering to be able to use my insurance experience to help her come up with some possible solutions to her dilemma. My body may be weak, but my mind remains strong, goshdarnit.

Comment by Sasha L on October 4, 2012 at 12:18pm I love that you are able to find ways to give, even though it's harder being constrained. I love trivia too, can't wait to check out that site.
I was on bed rest (for pre-term labor) w/ both of my daughters, and it is so hard (IMO). I can only relax by doing things - walking, cooking, cleaning, etc. Being stuck in one spot was incredibly stressful for me. Do you do any relaxation/hypnosis? I listen to these pod casts and CDs that help me a lot (I wish I had had them when I was pregnant on bed rest, but better late than never).
I hope you have a great day. Stay strong <3

Great gifts! I like the Free Rice website that challenges you on vocabulary. I was on bedrest, but only for 2 weeks, years ago when I had my twins. Believe it or not, you may look back on it fondly once that baby comes and you're busy, busy, busy! : )
You are far from weak~ You are very strong and determined, Jezga~
You inspire and are doing fabulous things!
That must have made the lady feel relieved for your help to come along! The websites you used are great ways to donate..and if you need other ideas, reading other's blogs are very helpful. Also, if you run your mouse over Forum at the top of the page, you will find some other ways to give. Take care...
