29-Day Giving Challenge

I bought the book for my secret sister at church as I thought it was something she might like. I started reading it myself and couldn't put it down. I am already thinking of other people I want to share it with.

Today is day 2 of the challenge for me. Yesterday, on day 1, I actually gave 2 gifts. I visited my 87 year old mother in law and went out to eat with her and helped her with some chores she can no longer do herself. I also put together a get-well basket for a church member who recently had surgery. So, I ended up giving 2 gifts on the first day. Both of the gifts were things I would have given even if I had not accepted the 29 gifts challenge. The difference is that I was more aware of the giving. I put more thought in to what I was doing, had more fun with it, and had more awareness that I am able to give. All in all, it was good.

Today, I went to church wondering if I would find someone to give to. Nothing really came up at church or later in the day. In the early evening, I decided to call my mother in law as my gift today. I often do this as she is not able to get out much and really appreciates a call. At times, I call out of a sense of duty and responsibility and don't enjoy the calls as much as I could. Today, I was mindful that my call was a gift, freeing me up to appreciate my time on the phone with her. So, I was doing the same thing I usually do but with a different and more loving mindset. I hope I can continue to grow with this challenge.

Hi Anne. Welcome! I have found the very thing you describe to be true. It's the awareness I bring to it that seems to make the difference. Enjoy the journey. Blessings, Krystyn
