Day 1 of my challenge

I "read" 29 Days of Giving" on a road trip to Florida. My husband, Brian, was driving most of the way and he and my 12 year old son, Liam, wanted to listen to Lord of the Rings. My 15 year old daughter, Diane, was listening to her ipod and reading her own thing. My littlest guy, Aidan, was mostly reading a book on my tablet. I brought along my knitting and before I left stopped at the library. I picked up a few Play Away books. You just plug your headphones in and go. They're about the size of an ipod- a little thicker.
I used to do a lot of volunteer work, and still do, but have found lately that when I do it, it's far more out of obligation than out of a real love for doing it. I'm looking for something that takes me out of myself and helps me appreciate things more like direct service volunteering did. Unfortunately, with 3 kids, a husband with 2 jobs, and my own business, I just don't find the time. I "read" Cami Walker's book on the way to Florida. It really resonated that this could be just the thing to help bring me what volunteering did. I love the idea of the intentionality of putting what you want out to the universe and allowing youself to receive the gifts that come back to you as well.

I took several Play Away books out of the library and found that many of them did not have batteries. My first gift (which I think will be very fitting) is to replace all of the batteries in the Play Away books that I borrowed and add an extra in each case. That way anyone else who takes out the books will be able to start reading without having to worry about finding a replacement.
