Hope everyone had a great weekend! I must say I did! It was a busy weekend but a very nice one too :)
Saturday was my Day 10 of the giving challenge. Every morning I wake up thinking about what I'm going to give today. It's a lot better way to start my day then having negative thoughts or stressful thoughts of what the day may bring. I was going to pick up my sister for a day at the beach kayaking and hanging out in the sun. I was running a little late and had to fill up on gas. Being in a rush and being 8am on a Saturday I wasn't really in the conversational mood and normally if someone was coming up to me to sign a petition or take a survey I would kindly say no. However, today I felt like a little differently. I saw a man walking buy asking others if they had a moment for a survey after 10 no's he came up to me. I told him that I'd love to (I think he was slightly shock). The survey was regarding driving conditions and safety. He asked about what I believe the number 1 distraction was, drunk driving, and the safety of seat belts. The questionarrie took about 30 minutes (20 more minutes then filling up my tank) but I smiled and answered all the questions. I believe he was very grateful that I took the time to do this because after me I saw 2 others say no to him :(
My gift today was to take my "little sister" out and to enjoy the day. I know she doesn't get to go to the beach as often or anywhere outside of her neighborhood. She fell in love w/ La Jolla and the beauty. We made it to the water, and she was a little scared to get into the kayak but I ensured her that it would be ok and we would have a great time! She also got to me some of my good friends who came kayaking with us. When we were on the kayak she was having a blast. We went and some seals and went close to cave. It was an amazing morning and I'm glad I got to spend it with her. The rest of the day was as great and spent most of it w/ some good friends.
Sunday- Day 11- My gift today was cooking dinner for my roommate. We both are trying this healthy kick (her a lot better at it then me). To say that I'm not a cook is an understatement, my definition of cooking is warming up food so this was going to be a challenge. I made pasta primavera and a caprese salad. She was my guinea pig and I'm thankful for that! The food turned out great and we had a really nice dinner at the table on a Sunday night! Hoping this healthy diet will last!
Today, Monday- Day 12- I can't believe it has been 12 days! Today has been a busy day of catch up. Catching up on school work, work and tiding up my place. A close friend of mind moved from here, San Diego, to Chicago recently. He was a lawyer in SD and moved to Chicago for another job opportunity, however before continuing his position he has to pass the Illinois Bar Exam, which is tomorrow. I'm sad that I won't be there to celebrate with him. I know he has been home sick and I wanted to send him my thoughts and love! I told him that I was sending him my passing vibes!! I sent him a bottle of bottle of champagne and truffles for a little celebratory gift for when he finishes the test! Hope that makes him smile and knows that even if we are at different places we are still close as ever!
