29-Day Giving Challenge

Yesterday, I was experiencing stomach pains and generally feeling sorry for myself. Although I didn't feel up to writing, I read through the discussions on my pregnancy board. I found a post from a woman who had given birth at 24 weeks. Her daughter is in the hospital fighting a brain bleed. Because her body is so fragile, the nurses are having trouble inserting a picc line. The baby's mother has been updating her daughter's status via a blog. I noticed no one had commented on her post yesterday, so I left her some words of encouragement. Last week my friend, Elise, mentioned how hard it is to offer hope in situations that might seem hopeless. In the end, Elise decided her words didn't need to be well written or original. They just needed to be there.

While I was browsing Craigslist for baby items, I stumbled across an offer for a free haircut from an upscale salon. I forwarded the offer to several friends who live busy lives built around children, husbands, pets, and careers. I hope at least one of them will give themselves a gift (in this case, the gift of a beautiful haircut).

The comment is a wonderful gift... and I love Elise's advice. (A few times, I've felt like words are just insufficient... but she's right; it's the intent and attention that counts.) The salon offer sounds awesome! I hope you're feeling better today.

My prayers are with this Mom and baby.....i know you must get very frustrated, I know I would....You are doing what you can do to keep your baby and your healthy. The gift of encouragement is awesome, and the "find" sounds wonderful!
