Day 11 and Day 12 - Veggies and Helping Hounds

More shoveling yesterday morning - my driveway and my neighbors' - just to keep it cleaned off.   Had a full day w/ framers market, yoga, art studio and errands.   Tried a new curried cauliflower and potato dish for dinner and settled in to watch the basketball game.   I started thinking about all the veggies I had bought - carrots, parsnips, potatoes, broccoli, brussel sprouts and even asparagus (one of my favorites and it's up to $4.50/lb).   Even when I ask the vendors at the market to split a basket, the quantity is more than I need and there is only so much room in my freezer! 

I decided I better gift some of them and took a medley of them over to my neighbor.   She thanked me for shoveling her driveway, and the veggies and said she hadn't had a potato in a long time.   She also really enjoyed the lobster bisque I had given her on my first day.   It's nice to hear when things turn out a little the way one hopes!

 

Today I am going to walk dogs!  A local oranization, Helping Hounds looks for volunteers to walk the dogs they rescue and try to place.   I contacted them and we scheduled my 'training', which is today from 10:30 - 12:30.   I have seen people walking the dogs before so I googled it and sure enough they have room for more volunteers.  I have always been struck by how happy the walker and walkee look - so I'm hoping to give that experience to both the dogs and myself today.  I love dogs anyway - they all have their own personalities; they make me smile. :)
