This afternoon, I enjoyed a slice of homemade apple pecan cheesecake that my friend, Vicki, dropped off (out of the blue) yesterday. We call Vicki "the Cheesecake Queen". Later in the day, my sister in law stopped by with some meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner. These were delicious and unexpected gifts.
Today is World Food Day (http://www.worldfooddayusa.org/). I feel so fortunate to be receiving this bounty when I know there are others out there who are going to bed hungry tonight.
For today's gift, I sent a postcard to M's friend, Frank. I don't usually send postcards, but a few weeks ago one caught my eye. I wasn't sure what I would do with it, but I knew I wanted to bring it home. I think it was sitting in my dresser drawer, patiently awaiting M's request.
Today, I am grateful to have a full belly, a roof over my head, and the support of family and friends.
Here's a photo of the postcard I sent today. I love the girl, the swirling leaves, and the Minneapolis skyline in the background. Greetings from the North Star state, Frank!
