Day 15, Sunday June 28
I went to my dad's Taiwanese church to watch him perform a dance, even though it was really uncomfortable for me as I don't speak the language and am not of the culture. Then, afterwards, at lunch I sat with a childhood friend who married an accountant and felt extremely out of place as they barely know what art is. The South Bay is a very meat and potatoes kind of place while my life has been a bit more caviar and beans. I stayed as long as was politely possible and was gracious and kind saying it was really nice to see her again and to meet him. This is the part of the suburbs that I cannot bear, and yet, I did.

i imagine it meant a lot to your dad that you took the time to attend his church dance. i know the feeling of not fitting in, i had to flee Chicago years ago for that reason (even tho i grew up there). Hugs, Dawn
