Today we had a student come in to test who uses a motorized wheelchair. I have seen her before taking classes here and she is the cutest young lady. She was our first student so my supervisor and I were able to check on our desk which moves up and down for accomodation. It was not plugged in, so we got it all set and tested it out. I helped the student adjust it and told her my name and said to just call me if she needed anything since no one else was testing at the time. When she signed out I asked her about what other classes she was taking and she complimented me on my earrings. I guess my gift was to give her whatever assistance she needed, but to treat her just like everybody else too. She makes me smile.

Comment by Dawn wwt on October 26, 2012 at 4:40pm you struck a nice balance, giving help when appropriate but not making an issue of it...and treating her as a person who is more than just her disability. nice! Hugs, Dawn xoxo
I'll bet she appreciated your kindness..this was a really great giving and receiving day!
