Yesterday I was also able to give a phone charger to a coworker. I used to carry it around in my bag but stopped when I got a new phone. Since he has asked me a couple of times to borrow it, I thought I knew exactly where it was in my totally compartmentalized junk drawer at home. Sure enough, found it, brought it in, he thanked me - and hopefully makes his life a little easier the next time he lets his phone run down.
Decided to try another Indian dish - rice lentil cake called a dhokla, and bring it to work today to share as a breakfast treat. I think I expected something a little sweeter than an idli, but its not sweet at all, and in fact calls for black pepper or red curry sprinkled on top as garnish - that should have tipped me off. But my coworkers humored me and in fact two people liked it very much. Sometimes I think I should be cooking for a room full of hungry curious people! But in fact, feeding people goes as far back as I can remember with my mom stretching to feed 10 of us...then as we left the nest and regathered for holiday - always trying to make everyone's favorite food, and of course having too much!
Found out that there may be a room available for volunteers to sit w/ dogs at Helping Hounds - as long as it's not needed by prospective adoptees. Right now I am planning on donating some time tonight after work, from 5:30 till 7 when they close. Usually on Friday nights I am ready to hit the couch and re- kindle some energy for the weekend -we will see how it goes.

Comment by RebeccaGallo on January 27, 2012 at 2:04pm Indian food still baffles me. Probably only for the reason that I haven't had a lot of exposure to it so I am not familiar with the tastes and ingredients. Good for you for trying a new dish, and for being brave enough to share it with others:)
You have been on a giving mission! :o)
