Today was a hard one. I went to the nursing home to visit a man from my church who has alzheimers. It's a hard visit to make, because I don't know whether it has any impact. He has really failed since I saw him last.

Comment by Dawn wwt on September 23, 2012 at 6:54am i am reminded of my son's great Uncle Bill, whose wife Helen had Alzheimer's for many years. he visited her every day. when their children said "Why, Daddy? she doesn't even know who you are?" he just said, "But i know who she is."
i have no doubt that on some level this man knew you were there and that you made a difference. loving kindness is never wasted. Hugs, Dawn
A very loving gift~
Bless you for visiting this person. If you can, I hope you will continue to do so. Your presence was indeed a very special present for this man.
Even if this man is not aware of you, your kindness matters to the world. You have put good energy out there today.
Good for you for going.
Maybe the impact is not long-term... but the being present in the moment with him while you're there & your willingness to do so *has* to matter in the big picture. Just this moment & how we feel right now... that's really all there is & if he had some joy (even if he doesn't remember it later)... it's still Joy that you created by being willing to go.
Peace to you--
Laura
You have a huge heart....that was a very meaningful visit.
