Today's been a quiet day, as my husband is at a football game. I'm home with the dog, working on a writing assignment for my online class. I've started writing a mystery about a female police detective in Australia. It's my first stab at fiction, and so far I love it.
My gift today is to send a thank-you card to Savannah, the kind lady who took our maternity portraits last weekend. I'm going to include a little finger puppet from Peru as a small gift for her baby, who is due next year.
I was a little down thinking about how I will not be able to see the trick-or-treaters in their costumes next week. To cheer me up, my husband suggested we carve our pumpkins last night. I picked out the designs for the pumpkin faces, and my husband did all of the dirty work including scooping out the insides and carving. We ended up with a "family portrait".
