29-Day Giving Challenge

wow i just realized i have almost made it through my whole first round...i know i have to go back to thursday and my gift that day was to take some mail down the road to my neighbors that i don't really know but it was delivered to my house by mistake..i thought that i would walk it down to them instead of justleaving it for the mailman to do..on friday alex and i went out to eat mexican food and our waiter is an older man that always remembers us and treats us so nice so for my gift i left him an extra 10.00 dollars on top of his tip and told him thank you for making us feel special even though we don't get in their to often. On sat my gift was to take my grand daughter to yard sales and i gave her 5.00 dollars to spend on anything she wanted she had so much fun and i have now converted her to being my yard sale partner she thionks they are great..today my gift was a big bag of cat food to my neighbors as its a yucky day and they were trying to avoid going out in it and so i gave some of the cat food i have for my animals..sonow i am caught up and thanks to all the support and kindness i have felt on this site i have good news..I got the job i applied for..its a cashier at walmart but i am as proud to be going back to work no matter where it is..this site has given me the courage to come out of hiding and take a chance and its working so thanks to all my new friends until tomorrow helen

thanks all i am thrilled i have a new job and ready to go back to work again..i have worked all my life or since i was like 15 but have not worked since my husband got sick and died..i wanted to be home with alex my daughter..now she is going to high school and i think its time i join the world again soi am very happy and grateful..i started out my morning at the vet my beagle snoopy was up all night and his stomach was hard as a rock this am and so we were at the vet when it opened..thank goodness it was not to to bad yet and he was able to get a shot to help relieve some of the gas and some medicine to go home on ..he seems a little better already but my gift today has been just to snuggle with him on the couch and take him out for short walks to help him feel better..its funny they are just like kids they just want their mama when they are sick..

congratulations on getting the job! it's a wonderful start and you will come in contact with so many people and opportunities to smile and interact with them, which can be a gift to both them and you. as a former waitress i love the gift to the waiter, i am sure it warmed his heart. have a great week! Hugs, Dawn

Wow, Helen, so much good stuff given AND received. I love the extra tip for the waiter. And about the granddaughter relationship...with or without a yard sale, that bond is priceless. I have three granddaughters, and the oldest, age 11 lives close by, so I treasure that. CONGRATULATIONS about the job! There is a book, something like HOW STARBUCKS SAVED MY LIFE in which the author talks about his life after losing his high powered job and then being offered a job at Starbucks. He talks about the privilege of serving others, taking pride in his job, etc. There is a lot to be said about work, paid or unpaid.
