29-Day Giving Challenge

This is kind of an odd gift-shoes for my son.  Can this be a gift?  Isn't a parent supposed to get shoes for her kid?  Yes, but if you're like me, the kids tell you the shoes are getting tight or point out the holes and you say, "Yes, we'll defiinitely get you some."  And then you forget for a couple of weeks!  Today right after school we headed to the mall to be fitted at the New Balance store.  These shoes really seem to work for my kids.  I told the salesgirl if the price was right, we would buy.  It was $79!  I thanked her for helping us, but told her we would have to look on-liine for something cheaper.  As we were walking out, my son suggested Sears because we had found some there another time.  Found a pair of New Balance on sale for $29!  That's more in my price range.  I feel really good about him having some new shoes. : )

Sometimes I feel guilty about what I think a mother is "supposed" to do - like buy shoes or have many choices of snacks.  I am often forgetting too, or maybe we don't have money for that right now.  I hope my children see the other gifts of their childhood - the ones that don't come w/ price tags.  I think you gave your son a lovely gift (new shoes are a big treat to me) of shoes, but also in finding a bargain and living within your means.  We all need that lesson.  It sounds like you are a really good mom to me!

Now that's a bargain! Good thing your Son suggested another store! Shoes are very expensive, and that is a gift, but finding a great deal was a gift to your budget!
