29-Day Giving Challenge

Yesterday I spoke with Savannah, the founder of a non-profit that provides free maternity photographs to people who have suffered miscarriages or stillbirths. She was calling to set up a photo session for my husband and me. On the phone, Savannah mentioned her group was having a get-together to create Bouquets of Blessings, baskets filled with necessities for a newborn, such as onesies, hats, bibs, & receiving blankets. Savannah invited me to attend, but I didn't think my doctor would let me go since I'm on bed rest. Instead, I bought six onesies and six pairs of socks & had them shipped to Savannah's address. It makes me happy to know these outfits will be worn by the "rainbow" babies of couples who are expecting after a loss.

After I placed my online order, the baby store sent me an email. If I completed an online survey, they would donate money to charity (I could choose one of six designated groups). I asked them to donate to www.dressforsuccess.org, a group that provides training and professional clothing to underprivileged women.

Later, I received a call from my friend, Vicki, who wanted to stop by and drop off some chili before she headed out of town for the weekend.. I feel guilty that my poor husband has been doing everything around the house while I'm stuck in bed. I've always been the primary cook around here, so these gifts of food have been a blessing for us.
