Well, like I said in my post yesterday, this weekend was insane. My son Riley plays baseball and he had a game and pictures on Saturday so we had to be at the park at Noon and didn't leave until almost 5. Our family came over after the game to cook out (or in, as it was) and hang out. Then on Sunday we were running errands in the morning, back at the ball field from 3:15 - 7:15 and then after that I had to go grocery shopping. I finally collapsed on Sunday night and slept like a baby. I suppose that's the good part of being so busy.....I sure do sleep well. :)
I'll be honest and say that while I was in the gift-giving spirit, I don't really know that I gave a gift of any kind. To be fair, I paused my counting and started back yesterday. Today is my "step-mom's" 70th birthday. Last night, she and my Dad came over and we had dinner and visited so I'll let her be my Day 5 gift......even though it is a bit obvious. To celebrate her birthday I made a few of her favorite things and then we had cake and ice cream for dessert. Indulgent and delicious. It was great to spend the evening with my parents celebrating such an awesome woman. She has been such an inspiration to me my entire life, it was nice to give her the focus and spotlight.
Mom, I hope you have an amazing 70th birthday today. I love you with all my heart. I hope I'm at least half the Mom that you didn't have to be.
