This morning I went to my women's book study group at Church. We are reading the book Becoming a Woman of Influence by Carol Kent. One of the discussion questions asked who was one of your earliest positive influences in your life? As I listened to each woman talk, I thought to myself that the leader of the group has been a mentor of mine for the last 10 years. But then I realized that my oldest sister Susan was the first person who ever brought me to Vacation Bible School. She encouraged me to go to youth group. She paid for me to go to a Christian Summer Camp. She trusted me to babysit her children and she taught me how to cook. Wow, she really invested a lot in me. I needed that especially being the 8th of nine children. So today, I called her and told her thank you for doing all that for me as a child. That I don't think I would have such a strong faith if she hadn't done all that for me. So thank you to Susan! Also I gave my daughter a 10 dollar I tunes gift.
We were also the lucky recipients of a new/used dining room set given to us by a friend. I can actually fit all six chairs around it ~ no more corner seat! yay!
