Day 12 was an opportunity to share something that I believe in strongly - veganism. A college student who works part time in my office starting asking me about being vegan. She is currently vegetarian and wants to move towards being vegan and had lots of questions. It was a gift for me to be able to share my beliefs. I usually don't "preach" unless asked so I love the opportunity to share why I believe what I believe and choose to live cruelty free lifestyle. I also brought her some vegan baked goods which people are typically surprised are made with no animal products but can taste so good. (I figured once she had one of my scones there would be no turning back) :).
Day 13 presented several opportunities to just reach out. One co-worker has a husband who is very ill, another had to expectedly put his dog down, and a third just had a challenging day. I took a moment to send each an e-mail at the end of day just to let them know that I am thinking about them and offer support. It is so easy to get caught up in little stresses of the day and these moments help to ground me in what is really important.
