Saturday started out a little slow for me. I was feeling down and depressed and wanted something to get me out of my slump. So I decided to pile the kids in the car and visit a newly renovated park in downtown Cincinnati- Washington Park.
We got there about 11:00 and the temperature was already over 90. Luckily we brought lots of water and the park features an awesome splash park with water that comes out of the ground and can be coordinated with lights and music! We had a blast! There is also a beautiful playground, with a castle, giant sandbox, and various other opportunities for fun. So my idea was to share the day with my kids enjoying this awesome new addition to our city. That would be my gift for the day...and then I got a phone call from my "Ex-Mother in law."
She recently got temporary custody of her 15 month old grandson and was stuck in a spot. She needed to go to work at the pool she manages and her plan was to take the baby with her. The baby is also my kid's cousin, who they haven't spend much time with. So I offered to keep the baby while she went to work, pick her up after work and take them both home. The kids all had a great time playing together and it was fun to see them getting to know each other! While he was here I also rustled up a bunch of clothes that were my son's to send home with him.
It felt great to help her out a bit and also gift the kids time to spend together!
Sunday, my gift was simple. My parents invited us over for dinner and when I called my Mom to ask what she wanted me to bring she said, "I've been wanting some UDF peach ice cream." So we stopped on the way and all had peach ice cream for dessert!
