Again, my blog will be relatively brief because I need to get to bed. We're leaving tomorrow morning to visit family for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, it seems like the only time I have a chance to write anything is right before bedtime! I have continued giving daily, and today was my 29th day!!!! Yippee!!! It feels awesome!!! So, here's what I've been giving:
Day 21: I mailed the card and letter to my senior friend and made brownies for my son's robotics team (my husband is the coach, so they often meet at our home). Oh yeah, it was another volunteer day at the school.
Day 22: Today, I mostly gave away as many smiles as possible. I've really been working hard at doing this daily -- offering smiles to as many people as I can everyday! I love the smiles that I get back! :o) I also gave to myself by setting aside some time for reading today. I love to read, but I have to make time for it! I talked to my mom on the phone, and she told me that she was thrilled to get Cami's book! She has already started reading it. I knew it would touch her because she lives with a chronic illness, too (cirrhosis of the liver). She and my dad are already great givers (especially with their time), but I knew my mom would love the book anyway! I bet my dad will read it, too! :o)
Day 23: It was another volunteer day at school. I mailed Cami's book to a good friend of mine who struggles with depression. I also made a monetary donation for a Thanksgiving food basket. Each classroom at my son's school donates a basket-full of things each year (for a complete Thanksgiving meal) to a place that distributes them to needy families. My son goes to a private school and they do a lot giving! It's a great lesson to the kids!
Day 24: I made a donation to Operation Smiley Face.
Day 25: I volunteered at my son's school, and I mailed a Thanksgiving card to my senior friend.
Day 26: I mailed a DVD to my mom that I know she will love! :o)
Day 27: I signed some animal welfare petitions throught the Care2 website. I did some Christmas shopping through The Hunger Site. My purchase provided 125 cups of food! I also made a donation to "Bears Without Borders" (also through The Hunger Site).
Day 28: I gave some money to the Salvation Army bell-ringer at Wal-Mart. I've been giving at least a dollar every time I've come across a bell-ringer this season -- a very easy give! I haven't written down every time I've done it, though.
Day 29: I sent a birthday present and card to my niece (I sent her Cami's book, of course!), and I also mailed out two other cards of encouragement and sent a book of stamps to Operation Smiley Face. :o)
Now, I really need to get to bed! Tomorrow begins Day 1 of Round 2!!! I've already printed out a new 29 Gifts Calendar to keep track! :o)
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! :o)
