Days Five and Six

Yesterday, I wanted a cupcake from this gourmet shop in the Ferry Building in San Francisco. But I am trying to cut out sweets, so I bought two: With the intent of giving them away.

I asked a mom and her young son if they'd like one of the cupcakes, each wrapped in its own box, and she said no. I think she was afraid it was poisonous or something. (Stranger danger!)

Then I found a teenaged couple waiting to cross the street and asked if they wanted to share a cupcake. They looked at me really strangely until I assured them it was new and wrapped and vanilla with vanilla frosting and sprinkles, and they reluctantly took it. It wasn't until I was all the way across the street that the girl yelled, "THANK YOU, THIS IS SO SWEET!"

I have a second chocolate one to give away, too. I'll find someone today.

However, my "official" gift given today is $1.50 to a man who asked me for bus fare.

I am enjoying this project quite a lot.

Glad to know you're enjoying the challenge! yes, sometimes our enthusiastic attempts at giving are met with guarded response because it's hard to believe in this commercial world that ANYTHING is free! Forge ahead though! Can't imagine it could be hard to get ANYONE to take chocolate! :) Great gives.
