I have a friend named Allie, she is an absolutely amazing artist and she has helped me through a lot in my life. Sadly she graduated last year so I don't get to see her as much as I would like.
This morning, Allie messaged me saying she wanted to give up on life. She said she felt pathetic and worthless and didn't feel like she was important to anyone.
I then told her the story of how much she means to me.
Last year when I was a sophomore, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks before school started and I was afraid to go back and pretend to be happy for everyone. I felt so alone.
That day I walked into art class and decided to ask if I could sit next to this girl who was sitting alone, that girl was Allie.
From then on we became friends. We shared stories, secrets, pain and laughs. I truly looked up to her, she had overcome so much in her life and I knew that if she had, maybe I could too.
So I told her all of this, and told her how much I love her.
I think sometimes we forget what we mean to the people in our lives and need to be reminded that we are loved and cherished. We need to be reminded that there is at least one person in this world who would do anything to help us smile again. We need to be reminded that love is infinite from those that truly care.
