friday and saturday and some thoughts about giving

got a really nice e-mail from the director of the blind cat sanctuary (one of my favorite causes).  in addition to some books, i included some cross stitch and needlework kits with my last care package thinking that she might be able to get some funds for them.  not only did she successfully sell them, but someone else saw that they were for sale and donated some of their kits.  she described it as a "double gift."  it's nice to see the "ripple effect" of giving.  and, those blind kitty cats are the real winners here.

speaking of furballs, something else i enjoy is the freekibble site (answer a question and donate 10 kibbles for shelter pups and cats).  the best part is that you don't have the answer the questions correctly to donate the kibble (i'm terrible at trivia!), and they send a reminder e-mail everyday.  no matter how good my intentions, it's hard to keep up with everything.  so, they do it for you.  10 kibbles doesn't sound like much until it's multiplied by days in a year and different questions for cats and dogs ... and all the people who participate.

yesterday, i donated to a world hunger charity while getting lunch through the drive through at taco bell.  today, i made lunch for a friend who helped with the yard and loaned some movies to him.
