FIGS... Today I gave the gift of figs.
Growing figs is in my blood. Fig trees can be temperamental and have trouble thriving in my climate. At the end of every summer season you must trim and cover the tree with leaves/straw and wrap it in a tarp and give it love all winter long in the hope that it will come back even stronger every summer. My father taught me this and my husband and I are teaching our child.
My first gift of figs was to my dad in the nursing facility. He was in his wheel chair waiting for breakfast and seemed happier to see the figs than me! I love him soooo much
The second gift of figs was to my favorite Para-professional. Every day she makes the children in her care feel loved. She is a true gift to everyone around her. I tucked a small card and bag of figs in her desk.
Lastly I brought in figs for my class with disabilities. I brought them some a few weeks ago and all had never had them. Seeing children try something new with wide eyes and wonder is a true gift. Can't wait to see them recall that memory today!
I guess a fig tree is like most people with a little extra love and care you can grow stronger every year!
I feel so blessed today!
