I am having a bad day today. It's Day 13 for me. I want to give but I am feeling so low and depressed, it's hard to find it in me to give. Does this happen to others? What helps?

I hope that you are feeling better! I have been there before - definitely a day to "give" to yourself. A bubble bath, a good book - hopefully something to keep your mind occupied.
Another thing I have when I was doing the 29-day stretch and was having a rough day - give $5 to a friends charity walk and let them know you were thinking of them!
Amy, first let me say that I agree with everyone elses comments: Gifting yourself with love and care is very important and appropriate -- it also becomes a gift for others because when you fill good will pass those good vibes on to those around you. I know for myself when I am depressed the steps that help me out of that depression the fastest are: (1) Pray and/or meditate (2) Eat healthy, nutricious meals (3) reach out to others in some meaningrful way and (4) do something self nurtering. I wish you blessings and joy.
Hey Amy~ Just don't be too hard on yourself. Give yourself a gift of taking it easy and then maybe picking up tomorrow. We all go thru this at one time or another. Go to the top of the page, hit Forum and there are many giving ideas. You gave the gift of your post to us today. Thank you~
Thanks for the helpful advice. I guess I wanted to give something major and was forgetting a gift can be something small, even my time, as long as my heart is in it. Both of your comments have cheered me; I can find the strength in me to give. Thanks again!
Comment by Give a little ~ GALfriend on November 4, 2011 at 12:27pm Hi Amy! Remember that any gift counts, no matter how small, and to whomever, it doesn't have to be to/for a stranger...children, husbands/significant others, pets and friends all count. Even giving to yourself, often we overloook ourselves...and you know that has a ripple effect through your home and family....So any small or thoughtful act - a shoulder rub, spending a little extra time playing a game, or reading to/with one of your children. Any thing that you might not normally do, or perhaps something that might be a part of your routine that you just have to push yourself along to do right now. I promise that you will feel the after glow of accomplishment...You could also read other's blogs and add a comment, or like along the way. Everyone likes to be read :) Sending you smiles ~ GALfriend
Why not start with giving something to yourself, listen to some energetic music, light a candle, take a bath, eat a bit of chocolate and take a walk, and you will feel better...
I have times when I am tired and dont want to interact socially, sometimes it is easier to send an encouraging text message or email to a friend, rather than calling them, less of a sociable challange when one is low in energy
