It's my grandmothers birthday today (or actually was, since it's already past 12 p.m. here). She fullfilled her 100 years. I always had a close relationship to her, even if we did not see each other too much during the recent years - she's been dement for some time, and I do not get home too often. I tried to reach the town where she and my mother are living to be there on that special day for her. To be honest: I actually failed. I made half of the way, and then I was stuck in some town, having little money with me. I had already asked my mother and aunt for advice for this special day. They both recommended, that there was no need for me to come, especially since I am having my exams soon, and since my grandmother might not notice too much of it anyway. Still I wanted, but there I was, stuck, well not completely without money, but every attempt of getting some more from my bank account would have driven it further into minus. I made a slight attempt on hitch-hiking, but didn't find anyone going out of town. So I decided to give up in that place, and found some payable way of getting back home.
This brought me back to some alternative, I had already started to prepare the day before: I had asked some friends to pray for my grandmother, hoping so much, that I will see her still healthy when I can go there another time in november. It will be easier by then. I will have time, so I can always hitch-hike if there is little money. And on our weekly devotional meeting I said a prayer for her, and also asked all my friends there (well, it was two apart from me today) to think of her as well. So I hope with all my heart that this reached her as much as a personal visit of mine would have.

Comment by Andrea (yore: don'tknowwhichn..) on September 5, 2012 at 4:14pm Thank you. Yes, she was already quite old (well, for that time especially) when she gave birth to my mom. So she is 100 indeed.
My heart is with you...you certainly tried very hard to see your Grandmother...I hope it comes about in November...Happy birthday to your Grandmother...did you say she is 100? That is absolutely awesome!!
Happy 100! That is fabulous. I think she knows how much you love her. Be very careful in your travels~ xoxo
