29-Day Giving Challenge

It looks like tomorrow might be another snow day! This has been a crazy winter.

Saturday I worked my BUTT off to pull off an incredible birthday party for my son. Then, as one of the fathers was leaving, he turned to my ex-husband and said, "Thank you for hosting." I didn't KILL ANYONE and if that isn't a gift, then I don't know what is. The kids loved the CD's I made for party favors. I really think every kid had an awesome time. And, my ex-husband met my boyfriend for the first time. It all went very smoothly. Of course, my boyfriend is a gentlemen, so I wasn't worried. OK, I wasn't too worried. My ex-husband is a bit unstable.

Saturday night my daughter stayed at my house while my son stayed at his father's. She and I watched Holes together, and then read in my bed. She loves to have time without her brother. I wish I could arrange more of it - for both of them.

I planned a great lesson on John the Baptist for Sunday School, but it turns out there wasn't any Sunday School last week! Oh well... next Sunday. (It''s not like John's going anywhere!) Then, I went to a "yard sale" of sorts with my mother. She was hoping to get some furniture, but it didn't work out for her. I, however, got a bunch of Corningware, which I love! It was then time to go to lunch with my family to celebrate... Beckett's birthday. This WHOLE month has been nothing but celebrating this kid's birthday. Lunch was really nice - my family seems to be chilling out as the years go on. It's wonderful. And, my boyfriend came and met my family. Of course, they liked him. He and my Uncle talked about sports or politics or some other boring man stuff, but they seemed to hit it off. (Not an easy feat as my Uncle often has a large object in his rectum.)

Back to work on Monday - made my bestie some hot chocolate while she proctored an exam and brought it to her. Made dinner for boyf, mom, and children. I also volunteered my mother to go spend time with my boyfriend's dog because his parents (usual doggie-sitters) are in Florida. Does volunteering someone else's time count as a gift? It's nice for the dog, and my mother likes to feel useful. Plus, she loves animals.

Yesterday, I walked and walked. (Again, trying to reach 10,000 steps a day.) I got out my Wii Fit which I haven't done in about a year. It was really fun! Then, I took the kids to free swim at the "Y." More exercise! I also signed them up for a kid's yoga class. I figure while they are at yoga, I can get some exercise in myself. I also picked both kids up early from school. It snowed all day. They didn't let schools out early or anything, but, as I have exams this week, it is easy for me to get home. So, I picked them both up. He, he. I am the WORST parent. I am a TEACHER. I should be making them stay in school. Instead, I bust them out every chance I get. They played outside for an hour in the snow. It was great for them. Then, I read an article about how our over-indulged, over-protected children are all going to be working at fast-food chains, while the disciplined and never-indulged Chinese children rule the world. Oh well. At least they'll have their childhood memories to reminisce about while they hold the pickles, add the onions...
